Product care and notice:

This Sejnane pottery piece is not suitable for holding standing water or for use in the dishwasher. Due to the traditional low-temperature firing process, the pottery remains porous and may absorb moisture over time. To preserve its beauty and integrity, please use it for dry items only and clean it with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Each piece is handcrafted, resulting in slight variations that add to its unique charm. Hence, the actual product can differ from the picture.

Story:

Women of the Sejnane commune in Tunisia handcraft one-of-a-kind terraccota pottery.  The thousands-of-years-old process is passed down through generations to daughters and was recently recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritage. Artisan's had the privilege to meet Sadiha Ayari, an artisan who helped to achieve UNESCO status for the craft of her and the women of Sejnane.

All items are handmade, before baking in the dug out pits, they are smoothened  by sanding items with seashells. The color is obtained by natural materials or through burning ashes (black). There are no mechanical ovens, molds or ways to make 2 identical pieces.
